Duct Smoke Detectors | SDD-2000-N Ionisation Duct Smoke Detector

The SDD-2000 Series Smoke Duct Detector is the latest innovation for early detection of smoke and products of combustion present in air moving through HVAC ducts in Commercial, Industrial, and Residential applications. The unit is designed to prevent the recirculation or spread of smoke by air handling systems, fans, and blowers. Complete systems may be shut down in the event of smoke detection.

The SDD-2000 is designed and built to meet all local code requirements, as well as the NFPA and ICC standards regarding HVAC supply and return duct smoke detectors. The products are available both as ionisation and photovoltaic versions.

The SDD-2000 range has been designed easy to assemble and service e.g. the cover and the detector head can be removed by hand without need for the screwdriver. How many times have you been in the ceiling space wishing not to loose screws or screwdriver! Furthermore, the ionazation detector can be used in the photovoltaic enclosure and vice versa.

Photovoltaic vs Ionization Detection

Q: So where to use Photovoltaic detection and where Ionization detectors?

A: Ionization detection is based on smell rather than light in photovoltaic sensors. Ionization Detection normally work more reliably than photovoltaic minimising the false alarms. Ionization is typically used in offices, schools, public buildings etc. Photovoltaic detectors are normally used in buildings where the duct inherently contains various gases e.g. in hospitals.
